There are a couple articles, not entirely Russia-related, which I’d like to call attention to. Though they don’t directly relate to Russia, they are or at least should be of interest to people who tend to take an interest in Russia and geopolitics.
The first article is the most off topic of the two. Apparently some dipshit from Infowars dressed up like a member of ISIS and crossed the US/Mexico border with a fake severed head to show how easy it supposedly is to do so. Never mind the fact that the real journey still kills many people, of course. But that’s not the point I want to tackle here. I’m more interested in the fact that this guy was with Infowars, one of Alex Jones’ websites.
Alex Jones and his cult-like followers are constantly telling us that every terrorist attack, every shooting spree, and sometimes even natural disasters are in fact government psyops, “inside jobs”, “false flags.” According to them, America founded the Taliban and Al Qaeda doesn’t even exist. But now ISIS exists, of course, but only when you’re trying to make an argument for more government policing on the border.
Yeah…about that. Why is it these people have been screaming constantly for nearly two decades(in Jones’ case) about how we’re just one false flag away from martial law and FEMA camps, but when it comes to the border they want the military to crack down and possibly build a guarded wall of some sort. You know, a wall like you might find in a prison camp? So of course ISIS and all Salafist terrorism is nothing but government-manufactured bullshit until you need it to be real just so you can use them as an argument in favor of bringing de facto martial law to the border. And whereas the government limiting the sale of magazines with more than 15-round capacity is a sure step towards cattle cars and gas chambers, rest assured that the militarization of the border could never result in any kind of actual move toward a police state. No we’ve just got to secure that border, even if it means spending more tax dollars we don’t want to pay in the first place, and in spite of the fact that we declare the government to be incompetent at everything it does, because it turns out ISIS is real and not totally a CIA false flag operation!
If they’re able to hold so many mutually exclusive beliefs without batting an eye, it’s no wonder they flock to RT.
The second article is from Cracked, yet very relevant when in comes to discussions with Team Russia fanatics or your Tea Party relatives who turn every dinner into a collective rant about Obama the Kenyan Marxist. Basically this is for anyone who still hasn’t figured out that state debt is nothing like personal credit card debt, and while the US national debt is something to keep an eye on, the Russian/libertarian/Neo-Nazi/survivalist dream of America one day turning out empty pockets and going into bankruptcy and economic collapse simply isn’t going to happen. In spite of America’s massive debt, banks are more than happy to keep lending the country money. Hell, America is still technically paying off debts incurred to finance the Second World War. Have you noticed any collapse into Mad Max-style conditions any time between 1945 and the present? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Learn how the world works.
