I can’t say there is nothing in this article I could contest, but it is a great article nonetheless. It’s nice to see some actual reason and balance from time to time. Unlike the Crimea, where actual Russian troops were involved, the situation in the East and South of Ukraine is essentially the same as Maidan. You can claim that Russia is influencing the movement, but the same can be said of the US and EU and their hand in the Maidan movement. At this point they are essentially the same. You can’t idolize one set of protests as totally spontaneous and allowed to break the law with impunity, and then condemn another protest for doing the same thing. If the influence of more powerful nations is repugnant to you, then you should oppose the system in which powerful nations get to treat smaller nations as political footballs, i.e. capitalism.
