I don’t talk about it very often, but one definite plus of leaving the United States is that since early 2006, when I left, I had not seen a single pair of truck balls on a vehicle. I say “had not seen” because that illustrious record ended yesterday. Yes, truck balls are now in Russia. What’s worse? The pair I saw wasn’t even on a truck. It was on a Mini-Cooper. A falling ruble, ethnic conflict, crumbling infrastructure, corruption, and sanctions were and still are all problems which can be fixed. Even the disturbing popularity of Nickelback in Russia is something which could be rectified with a minimum of violence. Truck balls on a Mini, on the other hand. I just don’t know what is going on anymore.
